APPROACH

My therapeutic orientation is as unique as you are. I believe in utilizing approaches in psychotherapy that allow you to measure change and improvement in your overall mental health, otherwise known as evidence-based practices. These are clearly specified treatment approaches that have shown to be effective with certain populations. I am a Certified Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Specialist (CCTBS). Some of my approaches include the following:

*Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Negative patterns of thought about the self and the world are

challenged in order to alter unwanted behavior patterns, or treat mood disorders such as depression.

*Schema Therapy
Maladaptive defenses developed in childhood are  identified and  changed to stop self-defeating life patterns of pain.

*Choice Theory/Reality Therapy
Choosing behaviors that satisfy our needs and, at the same time, do not deprive

others of a chance to do the same, creates empowerment and satisfaction.

Dr. Shakib-Beltran performs Qualified Medical Evaluations in Psychology in various locations in California. For a list of offices, please visit:  https://www.dir.ca.gov/databases/dwc/qmestartnew.asp.

What is a Qualified Medical Evaluation in Psychology?

This is an evaluation designed to assist the Parties (attorneys, adjusters, judges) in understanding the psychological injury that is part of your legal claim in order to help settle your case.

How long will the evaluation last?

The evaluation usually takes place over the course of an entire day, typically from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. On occasion, a second day may be needed to complete the evaluation.

What does the evaluation consist of?

A comprehensive interview; psychological testing; review of medical, psychological/psychiatric, personnel, and legal records; and possibly collateral contacts (i.e., family members, other professionals).

What happens with all this information?

A report is created with all the information obtained, and medical-legal opinions are provided regarding your psychological injury that will be used for your legal case.

What should you bring?

A list of all current doctors and medications, reading glasses, food, and drinks.
